The list of runners and bib numbers has been finalized. Please remember that all of you who are registered for the 50K/50Miler are actually registered in both distances and you can make your decision to go on for the 50Miler (considering you make the cut-off for going on) or to finish at the 50K point.
Those who are registered in the 25K are only registered for that distance and may not change distances.
If you had already contacted me about switching from the 50s to the 25K distance and I have responded back to you, then you are all set. NO FURTHER CHANGES/DOWNGRADES FROM THE 50K/50Mile RACES TO THE 25K RACE WILL BE MADE; ANY REQUESTS FOR THIS WILL BE IGNORED. Please note that the confirmation list on this site may not reflect any distance changes that you may have already e-mailed me about. As long as I have responded back to your e-mail, then you are all set (I have the final assignments set-up on a separate spreadsheet).
25K (16.5 miles), 50K (32.9 miles), AND 50MILE RACES RUN IN THE FINGER LAKES NATIONAL FOREST, HECTOR, NY. ALL 3 RACES PART OF THE FINGER LAKES RUNNERS CLUB TRAIL CIRCUIT. REMEMBER: DON'T LET THE COWS OUT!!
Please direct all questions to fl50s@yahoo.com.
Registration for the 2013 Finger Lakes Fifties has reached the limit of 250 runners for all three distances combined (25k, 50k, 50 mile). Registration for the WAITLIST is open. Individuals will be taken from the waitlist as cancellations come in and openings are available - individuals will be taken in order of the date they came onto the waitlist, not by the race distance (so say you were #1 on the 50 mile list on on Ultra Signup, if someone entered on the 25k list on a date before you, they would be chosen first). UltraSignup maintains waitlist entrants in order by race distance; waitlist entrants in order of date of entry onto the waitlist will be found on this site). PLEASE NOTE: Although UltraSignup asks for your credit card information when you sign up for the waitlist, you DO NOT pay prior to getting off of the waitlist. If you are chosen from the waitlist and ACCEPT the invitation, only then will your credit card be charged. Also, if you are chosen from the waitlist and decline the invitation, your card will not be charged.

REMINDER ... No Pre-Race Meal
I have been receiving numerous e-mails asking about the pre-race meal on Friday. Just a reminder ... there is NO PRE-RACE MEAL on Friday. The meal that is provided to the runners (and to those who purchased extra meal tickets) is the post-race meal that is ongoing throughout the day on Saturday.
Please take note of this and be sure to make your own arrangements for dinner on Friday evening. If you click on "Eats" under the Table of Contents there is a list of some local restaurants that are not far from the Finger Lakes National Forest.
I am partial to the Wildflower Cafe/Crooked Rooster Brewpub ... they have excellent food and they are a supporter of The Finger Lakes Fifties again for a second year. Please support one of our sponsors!

ATTENTION: Runners Coming From Ithaca
Any runners coming from the Ithaca area on race morning (Saturday, July 2) ...
There is a runner who needs a ride from Ithaca to the race on race morning. She is running the 50K so would need to be there prior to the 6:30am start. Please e-mail ae222@cornell.edu if you are able to help. She would greatly appreciate it!

Some Thoughts As Race Day Approaches ...
Just thought I would drop a quick post to give you all some food for thought as you prepare for race day ...
1 - A leisurely run-thru of the 16.5 mile loop of the course is set for tomorrow, Saturday, June 25, beginning at 9am at the Potomac Group Campground parking lot. This is free to any and all (not just registered runners) although it is a self-supported run (a couple of stashes of Gatorade may be out on the course, but mostly you will need your own fuel to get you through this). Plan is to go to the Crooked Rooster brewpub in Watkins Glen after for eats and drinks.
2 - Race day parking (and parking for those who show up on Friday night to camp). Please refer to "RACE DAY PARKING" under the table of contents. This outlines all of the rules that we must follow for parking. Even if you will just be stopping by to pick-up your race packet on Friday, please DO NOT park in the Potomac Group Campground parking lot (you will need to park on Potomac Road).
3 - Friday night packet pick-up ... this will be happening from 4pm to 7pm only. Please do not come to pick-up your packet after 7pm; it will not happen. We have tried to accommodate the few that were stragglers in past years but we have found that this just has a "snowball effect" ... more show up, more packets to be given out, and before we know it it is 9pm. We have much to do the night before the race, so please be respectful of this timeframe. The race committee thanks you in advance for your cooperation.
4 - Those who are camping ... we will have a hand-pull wagon available to help you with bringing all of your goods into the campsite, if you wish to use it. It is ~1/4 mile (maybe less) walk from the parking lot entrance to the campground.
5 - All timing chips will be given out on race morning only. Even if you pick-up your race number/packet on Friday evening, please be aware that you will need to pick-up your timing chip prior to your race start on Saturday morning. Please arrive early enough to do this.
6 - Please review the "Rules Of The Game" as outlined in the table of contents. You are responsible for being aware and following these rules.
7 - COURSE MARKINGS ... all course markings are BLACK arrows on a RED background. Additional ORANGE flagging tape will be used to mark areas that may need to keep your attention. Please be aware that I have noticed that the forestry has some trees marked with pink flagging tape ... those are their markings for their own purposes and have nothing to do with the race. If you see pink flagging tape, ignore it. The only course markings that will be out there for the race are what I have stated above.
8 - Please e-mail any questions to fl50s@yahoo.com or call 607-564-1804. Any questions that come in on Thursday, June 30, will likely be answered quite late that night. We will be unable to respond to e-mails or phone calls after Thursday, June 30.
9 - This is all for now; if I come up with any further thoughts I will be posting them as they hit me. Thank you all for your support of this event; we wouldn't have a race without you. And thank you to all the wonderful folks who will be volunteering their time to take care of you runners. Our volunteers are wonderful people and will do their best to make sure you runners have a good time out there.
